Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) is evicting illegal establishment on Buriganga river banks for the fourth day on Tuesday (Feb 5)

The drive, which aims to free the land from encroachment, began at Ashrafabad in Kamrangirchar around 10:00am.

Over 50 illegal structures were taken down till midday.

 “We will continue the eviction raids every week from Tuesday to Thursday till Feb 19,” Joint Director of BIWTA Arifur Rahman told the media.

“All illegal structures will be taken down irrespective of who own them,” he added.

BIWTA has demolished over 500 structures since the drive began.
