Trial courts have to dispose of narcotics charge taken into their cognizance by six months, says the High Court.
The order by bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman came on Tuesday (Feb).
It followed the hearing of a bail plea of a suspect who has been in jail for three years on a narcotics case.
In 2005, Police in Madaripur started a case against Mizanur Rahman after arresting him with 600 yaba tablets.
Rahman has been in prison since then and the investigating officer is yet to produce any witnesses in the court.
On Tuesday, the High Court turned down Rahman’s petition seeking interim bail.
