Deputy Inspector General Mizanur Rahman has appeared before Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) investigators who are probing him for accumulating wealth beyond known income sources.
The senior police came under graft watchdog’s scanner after he was accused of abducting a woman and marrying her at gunpoint.
Rahman arrived at the ACC around 9am on Thursday responding to the commission’s summon issued on Apr 25, ACC spokesperson Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya said.
He is being quizzed by the investigation team led by ACC Deputy Director Farid Ahmed Patowary.
On Jan 9, he was withdrawn after allegations of abduction surfaced against him.
According to the ACC, DIG Rahman accumulated billions in real estates, vehicles and fixed deposits in several banks. He also stands accused of money laundering.
