Deputy Inspector General Mizanur Rahman says that he has no wealth beyond known income sources.
The senior officer of Bangladesh Police was interrogated by investigators of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday.
“All of my assets are mentioned in my tax files,” he told the media after emerging from the ACC offices.
ACC Deputy Director Farid Ahmed Patwary interrogated Mizan at the commission’s office in Dhaka for around seven hours over allegation of amassing wealth illegally and other corruption allegations.
Mizan arrived at the ACC offices around 9am responding to the commission’s summon issued on Apr 25.
Speaking to the media around 4pm, Mizan said he was ‘sorry’ for threatening a female news anchor over the phone.
The senior police came under graft watchdog’s scanner after he was accused of abducting a woman and marrying her at gunpoint.
Responding to a query over the allegations involving a 25-year-old woman, he declined to comment saying the home ministry was investigating it.
