Seven held in Dhaka for ‘militancy links’

Militant (Symbolic Image)Police in Dhaka have detained seven people for their their suspected links with militant outfits.
The Detective Branch made the arrest during raids on Saturday at the capital’s Adabar and Bhashantek areas, said Dhaka metro police spokesperson Masudur Rahman.
“Suspect Syed Sadman Chowdhury was detained from house in Adabar in the afternoon,” the police deputy commissioner told Bangla Tribune.
Islamist literature, mobile phones and laptop was seized from him.
A second raid was conducted at madrasa in Bhashantek based on information gleaned from Chowdhury, said senior police officer Rahman.
Six people were detained from there. They have been identified as Motiur Rahman alias Abu Sumaiya, 43, Ashikur Rahman, 32, Azimul Haque alias Ziyon, 31, Md. Sabbir Ahmed, 34, Abdur Rahim Sikder, 42, and Md. Kamal Hossain, 40.
Police confiscated jihadist literature from their possession, added Rahman.
