Police in Dhaka have arrested nine people for their alleged involvement in sending migrant workers abroad through forged visas.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which made the arrests, said they belonged to a group which used to send migrant workers in collusion with unscrupulous officials of the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET).
CID’s Superintendent Sharmin Jahan told Bangla Tribune, “The group has been involved in sending people to the Middle East through forged visas. The arrests were made on specific complaints”.
Details will be provided at a media briefing later on Wednesday, said the senior CID officer.
