Rupnagar police sub-inspector, Uttam Kumar, has died under the bus which he was taking to the police station to be impounded after an accident.
Duty officer at Shah Ali police station, Sheuly Akhtar, said: “A bus belonging to Eagle transport was involved in an accident near the Beribadh area and after being kept in police custody at the accident spot for three days the bus was being taken to the police station by Uttam on Sunday.”
Uttam was in his bike ahead of the bus but near Rainkhola area, the bus ran him over and he died on the spot, she added.
The bus driver Shah Ali has been detained and the vehicle impounded.
