Students of BRAC, Shanto-Mariam varsities boycott classes

BRAC University Notice.Students of BRAC University and Shanto-Mariam University have boycotted classes to press the demand of releasing their classmates detained during Monday’s clashes.

They are also protesting against the hooligans’ attack on private university students on August 6.

Authorities have postponed all scheduled exams citing unavoidable circumstances, reports Bangla Tribune’s BRAC University Correspondent Noman Pervez.

Semester finals at BRAC University were scheduled from Wednesday (Aug 8. But, students demanded the release of 22 private university students and boycotted academic activities.

Later in the day, the university authorities posted a notice on their website announcing suspension of examinations until after the Eid-ul-Azha.

Shanto-Mariam University Notice.A similar notice was also issued by Shanto-Mariam University authorities on Tuesday. All classes and examinations were suspended until further notice, it said.

On Tuesday, East West University also suspended classes and exams while the United University announced that their summer semester examinations will be rescheduled after Eid.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid is meeting the vice-chancellors of private universities at the International Mother Language Institute of Segunbagicha on Wednesday.
