Dhaka Education Board Chairman Ziaul Haque, who is also the head of the inter-board coordination committee, confirmed the matter on Saturday (Mar 21).

The HSC and equivalent exams are scheduled to begin on Apr 1.

Meanwhile, a source at the Education Ministry said the decision over postponement of exams will be made at the cabinet meeting scheduled for Monday.

Ziaul also said the inter-board coordination committee has in principle decided to postpone the HSC and equivalent exams considering the coronavirus crisis in the country.

They have already prepared a proposal which will be sent to the Ministry of Education on Sunday, he added.

The government on Mar 16, closed all the educational institutions across Bangladesh till Mar 31, following detection of coronavirus patients in the country.

It asked the students to stay at home, maintain caution, and discouraged any student from attending coaching classes.

Till date 24 people have been infected with coronavirus in Bangladesh, with two deaths reported.
