The government has appointed Energy and Mineral Resources Secretary Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem as the chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
The public administration ministry said on Wednesday (Jan 1) Muneem has been appointed on contract for two years, effective from Jan 6 on condition of postponement of his post-retirement leave (PRL).
Outgoing NBR Chairman Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan’s contract ends on Thursday (Jan 2).
The NBR chief also serves as the ex-officio internal resources secretary.
Senior Secretary Muneem has served as the chairman of Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation before being posted prior to the Energy and Mineral Resources Division in May 2018.
An officer of the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) 1984 batch, Muneem hails from Sirajganj and is Geology graduate of the Dhaka University.
