Efforts on to politicise Khaleda's graft conviction: Hasina

Prime Minister and Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina was addressing the triennial council of her party`s Dhaka Metropolitan North and South units at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka on Saturday (Nov 30). Her remarks came on Saturday (Nov 30) while addressing the triennial council of her party's Dhaka Metropolitan North and South units, reports UNB.
“It’s not a political case … it’s completely a corruption case. But many want to give a political colour to it. We didn’t file any case against her with any political motive,” the news agency quoted her saying.
The military-installed caretaker administration brought charges of embezzling foreign donations meant for orphans, said Hasina before adding: “She is now in jail being convicted in that case.”

It's a fact that the country have significantly progressed during the Awami League’s term and will do so, said the prime minister.
Earlier in the day, Hasina, opened the council as the chief guest by hoisting the national flag as well as releasing pigeons and balloons at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan.
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader and the party's Dhaka North unit President AKM Rahmatullah also spoke at the council presided over by South unit President Haji Abul Hasnat.
Metro North's General Secretary Sadeq Khan placed the report on the party's city, while his Southern counterpart Shahe Alam Murad moderated it.
The last council of undivided Dhaka Metropolitan Awami League was held in December 2012.
