The government should take legal actions against the people, who want to bar the implementation of Road Transport Act 2018, said ‘Nirapad Sarak Chai’ Chairman Ilias Kanchan.
“An evil quarter of transport industry has frequently barred the reformation of the outdated Motor Vehicles Ordinance 1983, which we were pushing for a long time,” Kanchan said during a media call at capital’s National Press Club on Saturday (Nov 30).
"Did they [the vehicle owners] spend anything for your safety, constructed any hospital for your medical treatment or any training institute?” he questioned transport workers who went on a strike following the implementation of new road laws earlier this month.
The pioneer of road safety movement said, “Around one thousand drivers and staff die by road accidents every year. Did the owners take responsibility for their deaths?”
“People are suffering for some miscreants’ conspiracy. However, this temporary suffering will result in a permanent solution,” Kanchan added after pleading for people’s patience.
