Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque.The government will build as many as 16,000 houses for Freedom Fighters in a new scheme, says Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque.
“As part of the government’s plan to celebrate ‘Mujib Year [in 2021], housing facility projects for impoverished freedom fighters are being implemented ... Deputy Commissioners (DCs) are tasked with monitoring the projects,” he told the media after joining the DC Conference in Dhaka on Monday (Jul 16).
Haque said that renovations of as many as previously built 342 sites are under way under the ‘Preservation and Rebuilding of Liberation War memorial sites’ project.
“The DCs, too, have been asked to monitor the project progress,” said the minister.
Deputy Commissioners’ (DCs) Conference is an annual meeting of the heads of districts with policymakers of the government aimed at discussing policy matters and development strategies to gear up the field level administration.
The five-day meet plays an active role in determining and solving the problems and taking strategies for implementation of government policies and programmes at the grassroots level.
Splitting into 29 sessions, as many as 333 proposals will be placed in this year’s conference.
