Govt wants Khaleda’s treatment at CMH

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal. file photoThe government will propose BNP chief Khaleda Zia to get admitted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka for better treatment, says Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Tuesday.
He was responding to a query on a written plea by Shameem Eskandar, Khaleda’s younger brother, to take her to the United Hospital, a private meical facility at the upscale neighbourhood of Gulshan .
The minister said the government has taken all possible steps within its jurisdiction."
“CMH is much better than the private hospital. It is better equipped with specialized physicians. We will give her a proposal to take her to CMH and depending upon her reaction, we will respond,” he said.
When asked what would happen if she does not want to go CMH, the minister said: “We will take steps depending on the situation.”
The minister said, “We told her to get treatment at that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital but, she did not agree. Our IG prison offered her to take treatment in other government hospitals and if she agrees, we will take her there.”
About the release of Khaleda Zia before Eid, the minister said: “It's upto the court.”
