“Two people were killed in Barguna, and one each from Bholoa, Noakhali and Lakhsimpur,” said Senior Information Officer of disaster management and relief ministry Mohamad Selim Hossain on Thursday (May 9).
Hossain came up with the figure after a meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Disaster Management Coordination Committee at the secretariat in Dhaka with State Minister for Disaster Management Enamur Rahman in the chair.
Quoting the ministry, Hossain said, “The cyclone flooded 63,000 hectares of land and destroyed crops on 1,800 hectares.
“It also damaged a total of 21.95km stretches of embankments at 240 places inundating 36 villages,” he added.
