Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) will induct as many as 150 new buses to its fleet to launch a special service during Eid-ul-Fitr, said Secretary of Road Transport and Highway Division Md Nazrul Islam.
The BRTA will keep additional buses standby aiming to tackle tailback and transport crisis,” he said on Thursday (May 9).
Islam was speaking to media after a meeting with top officials of the division, the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), and the transport owners’ association’s leaders on ensuring a safe, comfortable, and hassle-free journey for homebound people at the Secretariat in Dhaka.
The secretary said, “Road repairing work across the country will be completed seven days before the Eid.
“BTRA will launch mobile court to stop the plying of unfit vehicle,” said Islam before adding vigilance teams will be operated at the city terminals to check the ticket fare during the Eid.
The government has asked garment factory owners to provide workers their holidays in phases, to avoid an extra rush prior to Eid day, said Islam.
