Surgery done on Feni madrasa student to ease breathing

Dr Samanta Lal Sen, chief coordinator of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit was addressing a media call through video conferencing on Tuesday (Apr 9).The burnt madrasa student has had her Escharotomy (surgery to treat third degree burns) done, informed Dr. Samanta Lal Sen, chief coordinator of the Sheikh Hasina Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute.
“We carried out the surgery as per the instructions of doctors in Singapore,” Dr Sen told Bangla Tribune on Tuesday (Apr 9)
Talking about the procedure, Professor Dr. Tanvir Ahmed, said, “When a part of the body is burnt, the skin becomes taut; movement of limbs and breathing become difficult and the operation was done to ease breathing complications of the girl.”
The victim suffers 80 percent burns, is being treated at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s burns unit.Saying that the girl is still in critical condition, DR. Sen said, “We are maintaining regular contact with Singapore and giving medication on their suggestions.”
