The fire which broke out at Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) market in Gulshan-1 early Saturday (Mar 30) has been brought under control, said fire service officials.
"The fire at DNCC kitchen market and super market in Gulshan-1 now under control," Director of fire service and civil defence Major AKM Shakil Newaz told Bangla Tribune.
It took 20 fire-fighting units almost three hours to control the flames, which broke out around 5.45am, said Ataur Rahman, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence.
Police said any casualties were yet to be reported.
The market was gutted by a devastating fire on Jan 3, 2017, causing a part of it to collapse.
A pair of major fire incidents in the capital have shook the nation, the first being a fire in Old Dhaka's Chawkbazar on Feb 20 night that took 70 lives, and the second that took place on Thursday (Mar 28) in a commercial building in upscale area of Banani, killing 25.
