A. Q. M. Badruddoza ChowdhuryIt is a colonial attitude to detain BNP chief Khaleda Zia ignoring the High Court order, says Bikalpadhara Bangladesh president and Juktofront Chairman AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury.
This reminds the country about the memory of ‘opposition repression’, he said while speaking at a iftar programme at Polwel Convention Centre at Abdullahpur in the city Friday.
He was of the view that the government should respect the rule of law and urged to reconstruct the Election Commission and form an impartial government before the election.
The former Bangladesh president said, conflict between Awami League and BNP has created a scary situation in the country in which leaders and activists of the largest political parties feel unsafe.
On the one hand, ruling party leaders fear that they would be avenged [if they lose the election] and on the other, BNP leaders are afraid of their security if the government party wins the polls.
The general voters are also confused which side they should vote as they are concerned about their security, he said.
If the people sense the real danger and give rise to a third force, then only this scary situation can be changed, Chowdhury said.
The third force would immensely influence the two political parties and through this, election period violence, killing, arson and other social disorder can be stopped.
