Two specialist physicians reached Dhaka around 7.50pm [on Sunday] by an air ambulance. FOCUS BANGLATwo specialists of Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth Hospital flew in by an air ambulance to assess the condition of Awami League leader Obaidul Quader.
“Two specialist physicians reached Dhaka around 7.50pm [on Sunday] by an air ambulance. But a decision to airlift Quader to Singapore is yet to be taken,” party’s Deputy Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua told the media.
However, the air ambulance is kept ready for taking AL general secretary Obaidul Quader abroad for better treatment, reports BSS.
The doctors came to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) directly from Shahjalal International Airport, a news agency quoted Vice-Chancellor Kanak Kanti Barua.
Quader, the road transport and bridges minister, was admitted to the hospital early in the morning
He has three arterial blocks and one of those has been removed by stenting, according to BSMMU Cardiology Department Prof Syed Ali Ahsan, who is leading a board overseeing his care.
As his condition was unstable, the doctors could not say when it would be safe to move him for better treatment abroad.
BSMMU cardiac surgeon Ashit Baran Adhikary, said later that the 67-year-old was “steadily improving, but is not out of danger”.
The minister was first taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at 8.30 am and then shifted to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of BSMMU.
