Violence was reported from 32 percent of the polling stations in the Khulna City Corporation election, says the Election Working Group, a network of polls observers.
"But it did not have any impact on the election," said EWG director Md Abdul Alim.
While there were attempts to alter the outcome of the vote in a number of polling stations, due to low number of attempts observed, it does not appear that they are significant enough to undermine the results of the election, it said in a statement.
According to the Group, the voter turnout was 64.8 percent.
It said that presence of ruling Awami League’s and BNP’s poling agents and was at 99.3 and 88.8 percent centres respectively at the beginning of the voting.
Stray incidents with small degree of impact were reported but had no impact on the result, Alim claimed.
EWG member Professor Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah said, “The Election Commission adopted a zero tolerance policy on rigging , evident from suspension of voting at three centres.”
