Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been named for facing Bangladesh’s “greatest security challenge”— the Rohingya crisis— with “generosity”, says Foreign Policy.Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has once again made it to the exclusive club of 100 leading global thinkers of the world by the influential Washington-based journal Foreign Policy.
It is a prestigious journal covering global politics, economics and ideas.
She has been named among the 10 top global thinkers in the ‘Defense & Security’ category in 2019 for responding to Rohingya issue with “generosity”, a crisis which the journal described as the “greatest security challenge” Bangladesh faces.
“Rather than turn away the approximate 700,000 Rohingya who fled persecution in Myanmar, Hasina welcomed them and allowed them to remain in her country,” it said.

The editors of Foreign Policy select the 100 Global Thinkers based on their contributions over the past year and their ability to translate ideas into action that change and shape the world.
In the past, US President Barack Obama, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and former US President Bill Clinton were among the global leaders making it to the list.
