Cabinet members to be named before oath-taking

For the first time in the country’s history, the government will name the cabinet members before the swearing-in ceremony takes place.
The names will be announced during a press conference at 5pm on Sunday, Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam told the media earlier in the day.
The new members of cabinet will take an oath at the Bangabhaban at 3.30pm on Monday.
Cabinet Division officials were preparing the separate files and folders for the ceremony on Sunday morning.
According to its officials, this time the council of minister may be made up of 46 members — 24 ministers, 19 state ministers and three deputy ministers.
The Department of Government Transport is tasked with providing transport services and drivers to ministers, ministers of state and deputy ministers.
The previous cabinet, led by Hasina, had 32 ministers, 17 ministers of state and two deputy ministers. Four ‘technocrat ministers’ had resigned from their posts before the election.
Who got the calls?
Members of the last cabinet, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and Anisul Huq have received the Cabinet Division’s phone call inviting them to take oath as minister.
Sharif Mahmud, the public relations officer to Kamal, who served as the home minister, confirmed of getting the phone call.
Anisul, who was the law minister in the previous cabinet, told Bangla Tribune, “I have received the phone call from the Cabinet Division.”
It has been confirmed that Dipu Moni, Muhibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Javed, Junaid Ahmed Palal, AHM Mustafa Kamal, Nasrul Hamid, Bir Bahadur U Shwe Sing, Golam Dastagir Gazi, Abdur Razzak, MA Mannan, Tipu Munshi, Jahid Ahsan Rasel, Shahariar Alam, AKM Mozammel Huq, Shadhan Chandra Majumder, Mohammad Shahbuddin, Imran Ahmed Chowdhury, Mustafa Zabbar have received the Cabinet Division’s phone call.
Kamal and Anisul are likely to retain their previous portfolios while Abur Razzak’s personal aide Maksudul Alam told Bangla Tribune that the Cabinet Division informed his portfolio would be agriculture.
