Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda said, “Voting is going on in a conducive environment and we can only ascertain if it has been participatory or not after the polls are over.”
He made the comments on Sunday (Dec 30), answering to questions by the media after he cast his vote at the IES School and College in Uttara.
“The law enforcers have been given instructions to ensure security of voters all over the country,” he said.
If the situation is not under control then those polling stations will be shut down with voting carried out later, he said.
When asked about the absence of BNP polling agents at the IES School and College, he commented, “If they do not come then we have nothing to do.”
When asked about the scar left by Jan 5 polls, he expressed hope that the ignominy of Jan 5 elections will be erased by this polls.
