Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda has said the voters will have their faith restored after the deployment of armed forces ahead of the 11th parliamentary polls slated for Dec 30.
“It will restore the voters’ faith and that’s why I have instructed the deployment of troops,” Huda told the media on Monday (Dec 24) after visiting a training workshop for election officials at Dhaka Residential Model College.
Urging the political parties to avoid violence the CEC called on them to peacefully carry out their campaigns.
Responding to queries about Electronic Voting Machience (EVMs), Huda said, “Taking into consideration the opinions of political parties, we will use EVMs in only six seats.”
We had no confusion on the technology, he said, adding, “We are using EVMs in small number of constituencies because of political parties’ reservations.”
When asked about BNP not getting DMP’s permission for rallies, the CEC said, as far as security is concerned, DMP know best.
“I haven’t spoken to them (DMP) yet. I will talk to them very soon,” added Huda.
