The Primary Education Completion (PEC), Junior School Certificate (JSC) and equivalent exams have served to boost the confidence of the students, said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“Many people criticize the primary level and eighth grade examination. But these exams have helped boost the students’ self-confidence,” she said during a textbook distribution and result announcement program on Monday (Dec 24).
She said that Sheikh Mujibur Rahman made primary education compulsory to take a war-ravaged country towards a better future and her government was working to implement his visison.
The PM said that they have been able to build a digital Bangladesh by establishing 12 science and technology universities and reducing the price of computers.
“We are working to take the country forward. We have plans for the future that go as far as 100 years because we believe that a specific goal is imperative to implement the plans.”
To encourage the students towards higher education, the government was working to provide scholarships and books free of cost, she said.
Earlier in the day, the prime minister published the results for PEC, JSC and JDC through the internet. She then proceeded to inaugurate the textbook distribution for the new school year.
The results of Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) Examinations-2018 were published on Monday with 83.65 percent pass rate in JSC and 89.04 in JDC exams.
This year, 68,095 students secured GPA-5. As many as 26, 70,333 students from 29,677 educational institutions appeared in this year’s JSC and JDC examinations. Of them, 12, 23,732 are male and 14, 46,601 are female students.
The number of JSC students was 22, 67,343 as 4,02,990 students participated in the JDC examination this year.
