Election commissioner, Mahbub Talukder, has called the 11 national election an episode that will allow Bangladesh to stand tall at the global stage.
“Therefore, we cannot hold a questionable election and lose our self-respect.”
He made the comments on Monday at the election commission building in Agargaon.
Calling on the election officials to carry out their duties without fear and favour, he said: “your failure will scupper the polls whereas your success will glorify the nation.”
You have been entrusted with all necessary administrative powers to prevent indiscipline and no laxity on your part will be tolerated, he cautioned.
“The nation plus world are watching us and it’s your task to ensure everything is free and fair.”
