Combination of file photos show technocrat ministers Matior Rahman, Nurul Islam BSc, Yeafesh Osman and Mustafa Jabbar.Religious Affairs Minister Matior Rahman, Expatriates’ Welfare Minister Nurul Islam BSc, Science and Technology Minister Yeafesh Osman and Telecoms Minister Mustafa Jabbar have resigned Tuesday in line with the prime minister’s order.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked technocrat ministers to quit during weekly Cabinet meeting.
After the latest reshuffle in the cabinet in January, there were 30 ministers, 17 state ministers and two deputy ministers in the Hasina-led government.
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader disclosed the PM’s instruction while speaking to the media Ganobhaban after the Cabinet meeting held at the Ganabhaban.
He, however, said the other ministers will remain there as usual in their respective posts.
The latest political development came amid widespread speculations that the Dr Kamal-Hossain-led Jatiya Oikyafront may place a proposal on Wednesday during the talks with the prime minister to form an election-time cabinet inducting some ministers from the opposition parties.
Quader said they may sit in talks for several times with their alliance partners to settle the seat-sharing issue.
Once the dialogue is over, he said, the prime minister will deliver a winding-up speech over the outcomes of the ongoing political dialogue at a press conference at Ganobhaban on Thursday.
