The four technocrat ministers of the ruling administration.Four technocrat ministers of the Awami League-led government are set to submit their resignation after Prime Minister told them to step down on Tuesday.

Religious Affairs Minister Motiur Rahman, Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam BSc, Science and Technology Minister Yeafesh Osman and Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar are likely to tender their resignation letters as early as Tuesday.

Earlier in the day the prime minister made the decision on Tuesday (Nov 6) in a cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), said people familiar with the matter.

The ministers will file their resignations to the premier which will be then forwarded to the Cabinet Division and then sent back to the PMO for a final approval.

Once approved by the PM, the letters will be sent to the President and later the Cabinet Division will issue a circular making it official.

“The prime minister made the call in an additional sitting following the cabinet meeting,” ruling Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader told media at prime minister’s official residence Ganabhaban.

Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam said he will proceed with necessary formalities once the resignations are filed.
