A weeklong ‘Income Tax Fair’ will begin in the capital and other divisional headquarters across the country on Nov 13 aiming to help the taxpayers fill returns and facilitate other tax-related works.
Like the previous years, the National Board of Revenue (NBR), will organise the fair, which will continue till Nov 19.
The fair will also be held in all districts and 32 upazilas. The duration of district level fair will be four days while upazila level fair two days. Besides, a daylong mobile fair will be held at the Growth Centres at upazila level, reports BSS.
Officials say the taxpayers will be able to file tax returns and do other related tasks at the fair. Tax officials will help the taxpayers while they (taxpayers) will have to bring the required documents only.
Coordinator of the fair and NBR Member (income tax administration) Ziauddin Mahmud said the new thing of this year’s fair is that the taxpayers would be informed of tax services by airing audios and videos.
He said taxpayers can also ask the tax officials about tax related queries through tele-learning system.
“New taxpayers can collect e-TIN (electronic tax identification number) at the fair while other taxpayers also can collect e-TIN through re-registration,” Ziauddin said.
He said separate booths will be set up at the fair venues for e-payment and freedom fighters, women, people with disabilities and elderly taxpayers.
Besides, the best taxpayers will be honoured in a gala function at the capital on Nov 12 while Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to be present.
