Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB) President and Jukto Front chief Dr AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury has sent a letter to President M Abdul Hamid seeking a meeting with him to discuss about the forthcoming national polls.
The party’s Secretary General Major (Retd) Abdul Mannan sought to meet the Chief Election Commisioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda.
“The letters have been sent on Tuesday (Nov 6),” said Bikalpa Dhara organizing secretary Barrister Umar Farooq.
In the letter, B Chowdhury said, we are keen to discuss with you (president) over some important matter... According to the constitution, Election Commission (EC) is the prime operator to hold the polls. EC is fully under the authority of president during the time of election. So, we want to discuss about the power and responsibilities of EC with you to make the election process neutral.
Badruddoza Chowdhury sought the meeting by Wednesday (Nov 7) while Major (Retd) Abdul Mannan requested talks with the CEC by Friday (Nov 9).
A delegation of Bikalpa Dhara wants to sit with the CEC, said Mannan in his letter.
