With the 11th Parliamentary election due late December, ruling Awami League has now decided to hold talks with newly floated anti-government alliance Jatyia Oikya Front.
The development came a day after the alliance wrote to the ruling party leaders on Sunday (Oct 28) calling to hold a dialogue.
Speaking to media at the party office in the city on Monday (Oct 29), AL Secretary General Obaidul Quader said, “We want to inform (Oikya Front) that AL will sit for dialogue with them.”
“Prime Minister and AL President Sheikh Hasina will lead the talks on the party’s behalf,” said Quader, who is the road transport minister.
AL’s decision on the talks was made after the party president discussed the alliance's letters at Monday’s cabinet meeting, which the minister said was ‘decided unanimously.’
Date and place to hold the talks will be informed later, said Quader.
