PM to open country's first Y-shaped bridge

Bangladesh’s first ever Y-shaped bridge ‘Sheikh Hasina Titas Bridge’ to be opened over the Titas River in Brahmanbaria.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the long-awaited bridge through a video conference from Ganabhaban on Saturday.
The 771-meter long and 8.10-meter width bridge was constructed costing Tk 1 billion was built under the supervision of Local Government Engineering Department (LGED).
The bridge is expected to ease the limitless sufferings of the locals of the riverine area around Brahmanbaria.
People now can enjoy a hassle free transportation from Bancharampur to Cumilla’s Muradnagar and Homna Upazila, locals said.
The bridge will bring significant socio-economic development in the adjacent areas, said Bancharampur Upazila administration chief (UNO) Md Shariful Islam.
Local LGED Executive Engineer Fazle Habib said that the bridge is the only mega-project of LGED which took seven long years to be built.
He is also optimistic of people’s benefit after the bridge being operational.
