Not in office to make my fortune, but the people’s: Hasina

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was addressing the inaugural session of the National Council of the Institution of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB) at her official residence the Gano Bhaban on Saturday (Sept 15). FOCUS BANGLAIn the 21 years from 1975 Bangladesh has not seen any development rather a handful people built their own fortune, says Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Addressing the inaugural session of the National Council of the Institution of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB) at her official residence the Gano Bhaban on Saturday, she said that her administration aimed to develop villages further aiming to reduce pressure of people in the urban areas, reports BSS.
Hasina said it was her responsibility to free the people from deprivation. "I’m not here to make my own fortune, but to build the fortune of the people.”
The Prime Minister said her government wants to develop villages further aiming to reduce the tremendous pressure of people on the capital city.
The government wants to provide urban facilities to rural people so that they can live a decent life. "We’re adopting plans to build villages as townships to create employment."
A plan has been already adopted to construct multi-storey buildings at the Upazila and Union councils.
Hasina said her administration has always given priority to vocational and science and technology-based education.
"The work to construct 100 technical schools and colleges has already started," she said.
