Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda has described the Finance Minister AMA Muhith’s remarks on a possible polls date a ‘mistake.
“We (Election Commission) didn’t tell him (Muhith) and he shouldn’t have made the comment. Now I’m telling in front of the media that the finance minister has made a mistake. This is not his job (to disclose the date of the polls)," Huda said on Thursday (Sept 6).
Speaking at a media briefing after the two-day conference of Forum of Election Management Bodies of South Asia (FEMBoSA) in Dhaka, the CEC said. “We (Election Commission) are capable to hold a free, fair and credible election.”
Earlier in the day, curtain of the conference was closed by handing over the charge of chairmanship to the CEC and unveiling the 9-point Dhaka declaration.
The next FEMBoSA conference will be held in Bhutan, Huda informed.
