India has alerted Bangladesh that due to excessive water released into Brahmaputra by China may cause floods into downstream countries.
An official of the foreign ministry said, “Due to heavy rainfall Tsangpo river in Tibet overflowed and China has recently released excessive water into Brahmaputra.”
As a matter of fact, the water level in Tsangpo river reached 50 years high and it has negative impact for downstream countries like Bangladesh and India, he said.
Indian states Arunachal and Assam are in high alert and floods in those states might have impact on Bangladesh too, he added.
