BNP has picked up the bad habit of creating a fuss every now and then, says Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu.
“When the election looms or when a court verdict is due, BNP creates a commotion. We’ve seen it during the war crimes trials, because their intention was to cover up their misdeeds and save the culprits,” he told media on Sunday.
He went on to say, “Sheikh Hasina was injured in the Aug 21 attack. When the time has come for the verdict of that brutal killing, they have once again resorted to creating a fuss.”
“For the BNP, seeking justice for the Aug 21 attack is interfering with the court. But in reality, it’s the people’s right to ask for justice to be served. On the contrary what they are doing after Khaleda Zia was sent to jail for theft is contempt of court,” Inu said.
He also said, “I want to warn people to be careful that Khaleda Zia is no saint, nor is she the mother of democracy as the BNP leaders are going about saying. She, in fact is the mother of militancy and terrorism.”
Responding to a question on Dr. Kamal Hossain’s recommendations for the upcoming polls, Inu said, “Any citizen can put forward their suggestion aimed at making the polls fair.”
It’s up to the election commission, he added.
On the attacks on journalists during the road-safety protests, he said, “I’m hoping that the perpetrators will be apprehended soon.”
