The government will appoint another 7,000 doctors for the nearly 500 Upzilas in Bangladesh, says Health Minister Mohammad Nasim.
“Seven thousand doctors, who will clear the special BCS exams, will be appointed at the Upazilas by November this year,” he said.
Speaking at his offices on Sunday, Nasim said, “All doctors must have to serve at their first workplace for three years since the appointment.”
A new 500-bed hospital will be established in the city’s Sahbagh with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to lay its foundation stone in October, the minister said.
The South Korean government will finance the construction of the hospital.
Responding to a query, Nasim said, “Government medical colleges will be established in every district in a bid to improve health care service.”
