Eminent Indian film director and screenwriter Shyam Benegal called on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her Ganabhaban residence on Wednesday (Apr 3).
They discussed different on the biopic to be made Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Press Secretary to the PM Ihsanul Karim told the media after the meeting, reports BSS.
The film on Bangabandhu will be made under a joint production of the governments of Bangladesh and India.
Shyam Benegal will direct the film.
The two countries signed an agreement in 2017 to produce the film on Bangabandhu and a documentary on the Liberation War.
The film is expected to hit the screens by Mar 17, 2021, to mark Bangabandhu’s centennial birth anniversary.
“Making of the biopic on Bangabandhu will complete before the end of the ‘Mujib Year 2020-21’, declared by the government on the occasion of Bangabandhu’s birth centenary,” Benegal earlier told Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud at a meeting at the ministry’s conference room in the secretariat.
A 19-member committee has been formed with noted persons of Bangladesh and India for making the biopic.
