Manikganj village locked down as woman with virus symptoms dies

ManikganjA village in Manikganj has been put under lockdown after a woman with Covid-19 symptoms died at Harirampur upazila.
The local administration locked down Baraichara village, where the deceased resided on Sunday (Mar 29).
The deceased, 26-year-old homemaker Shuchitra Sarkar was taken to Munnu Medical College hospital in the district’s Sadar Upazilla on Sunday morning, where the duty doctors declared her dead.
“The village will remain under lockdown till the reports from IEDCR arrives,” Upazilla Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sabina Yeasmin said before adding that Upazilla administration would provide food to around 200 families of the village in the meantime.
“The woman was suffering from fever, cough, shortage of breath for seven days and diarrhea for two days,” said the hospital’s Director Mahbubul Hasan.
Quoting the deceased’s relatives, he said that Shuchitra’s father in law died a week ago and the program for his last rites were attended by many people.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) SM Ferdous Khan said, “The close relatives of the deceased and her neighbours have been put under quarantine.”
“In addition, the hospital and the people, who came under her contact, are being monitored,” he added.
