At least 16 injured in school bus accident in Gopalganj

At least 16 people have been injured after an excursion bus carrying student’s from Willes Little Flower School and College crashed into a truck in Gopalganj.

A teacher, Fahima Begum, lost her arm in the accident reported from the Sadar Upazila’s Ghonapara on Tuesday (Mar 10) afternoon.

Gopalganj Fire Service Station Officer Noor Mohammad Sikder said that the students were going on a field trip to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s memorial in Tungipara.

He added that the bus lost control and crashed into a stationary truck at Ghonapara area.

Ten among the injured have been admitted to the Gopalganj 250-bed General Hospital and the rest have been given primary treatment.

Willes Little acting Principle Abul Hossain told Bangla Tribune that the teacher who lost her arm has been airlifted to Dhaka.

He said that the field trip was organised by the Tourism Corporation and 105 students along with 10 teachers and four members of the staff were on the bus.

She is currently undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College’s Sheikh Hasina Burn Institute, he added.
