At least seven people were killed in road accidents in five districts on Friday (Jan 31).
In Jhenaidah, three men were killed when the motorcycle carrying them collided head-on with a sand laden tractor on the Mohseshpur-Jadabpur road near Jagusha village in Moheshpur upazila.
The deceased Raju Hossain, 22, Nazrul Islam, 48, and Sabbir Ahmed, 16, were headed to a wedding when their motorcycle collided with the tractor, said Moheshpur police OC Morshed Hossain Khan. "The bodies were taken to Moheshpur Upazila Health Complex."
In Gazipur, a pedestrian was killed when an unidentified vehicle hit him on the Gazipur-Tangail Highway in Kaliakair upazila.
The deceased Mofiz Fakir, 50, died on the spot.
Salna Highway police station OC Mojibur Rahman said: "The body was handed over to deceased's family without autopsy upon their request."
In Tangail, a woman was killed when an auto rickshaw hit her near the post office in Gopalpur upazila.
The deceased Mariam Begum, 50, was on her way to a clinic for medical check-up, said her family.
In Jessore, a man was killed when a truck hit him on the Jessore-Manirampur Highway near Kanaitola area of Manirampur upazila.
The deceased Alauddin Biswas, 55, died on the way to a hospital, said Jessore General Hospital Duty Doctor Ameyo Das.
In Bogra, a motorcyclist died when a truck rear-ended his vehicle on the Dhunot-Sonamukhi road in Belkuchi.
The deceased Belal Hossain, 27, was a mason, said Dhunot police OC Ismail Hossain.
