The government will recruit more 26,000 primary school teachers in February two months after appointing over 18,000 teachers in December last.
State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Md Zakir Hossain unveiled the matter at a programme at Kurigram Primary Teachers Training Institute (PTI) on Thursday (Jan 30).
Hossain said “The Cabinet cleared the Mid-day Meal policy, which will be launched in ‘Mujib Year’ at all primary schools across the country."
The government wants to open more [primary] schools at "remote chars and haors areas,” he added.
“We are trying to appoint local teachers at these new schools,” said Hossain, who is lawmaker from Kurigram-4 constituency.
