Four killed in Mymensingh road crash

At least four people were killed and three others injured after a bus crashed into an auto-rickshaw at Charshreerampur area of Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh on Wednesday.A head-on collision between a bus and an autorickshaw on Wednesday (Jan 29) has left four people killed, including two of a family, in Mymensingh.

The road crash on the Mymensingh-Kishoreganj Highway at the district's Gouripur Upazila left two others injured, said police.

"Mymensingh-bound bus collided head-on with the autorickshaw at Gouripur's Koltapara leaving one dead on the spot and five others injured," said OC Borhan Uddin of the Gouripur police.

Eighty-year-old Rabeya Khatun was killed immediately while her son Lal Mia, 55, Sahara Banu, 65, and autorickshaw's driver Rafiqul Islam, 50, succumbed to their injuries at the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

The bus has been impounded but its driver managed to flee the scene after the crash, said the police officer.
