Worker, minor boy killed in Dhaka building collapse

A construction worker and a minor boy have been killed as a wall collapsed on them in Dhaka's Keraniganj Upazila.
At least two others sustained injuries in the incident, which was reported from Gokpar area of the upazila’s Kalindi Union on Sunday (Jan 26), said Keraniganj Model police OC Kazi Mainul Islam.
The deceased have been identified as 7-year-old Rahim, a student of a local madrasa, and 24-year-old Md Babu, a construction workers.
“Construction workers were working on the land of one Bellal in the morning with the minor boy playing nearby. All of a sudden, a wall of neighbouring building owed by one Haji Bullet collapsed on them, leaving them injured,” said eyewitness Anwar Hossain.
“The injured were rushed to Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared Babu and Rahim dead,” he added.
Keraniganj’s Assistant Commissioner (Land) Kamrul Hasan Sohel visited the spot.
Legal actions would be taken against the people responsible for the incident after investigation, OC Islam said.
