The national helpline '999' has received 20 million complaints over the past two years, says Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Javed Patwary.

"Of the complaints, police have resolved 5 million so far," he told a programme in the southeastern district of Moulvibazar on Saturday (Jan 25).
Citing initiatives have been taken to turn police people-friendly, Patwary said the forces' "zero tolerance to narcotics to continue.
"Stern actions have been taken against police members involving with drugs,' said the IGP before warned more punitive measures in future.
The police chief urged the narcos to give themselves in and get back to the normal life.
The government officially launched the 999 emergency helpline in December 2017 with the police monitoring and managing the services.
Police, fire service and ambulance services are available from any phone dialling the ‘toll free’ number.
