Bangladeshi tortured by BSF dies at Indian hospital

The development is being seen as a major victory of the security forces over the insurgency and terrorism situation along the Bangladesh border in the northeast.A Bangladeshi youth, who has been tortured to death by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at their Bonnabaria border camp, has dies while receiving treatment at an Indian hospital.

The victim, Hanef Ali Khoka, 32, hailing from Jashore’s Sharsha union Agrubhulot village, succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at Bonga Hospital in India on Wednesday (Jan 22) night.

Agrubhulot BOP Commander Nayeb Subedar Mozzamel Hossain the matter to Bangla Tribune.

Locals said Khoka was held by BSF Men at their Bonnabaria border camp while trying to re-enter Bangladesh. The BSF men tortured Khoka inhumanely, leaving him critically injured. Later, the victim was admitted to Bonga hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Acknowledging the death, local UP Member Tabibur Rahman said Khoka went to his uncle’s home on the Indian side of the border two days ago and was held by BSF men upon his return to Bangladesh. Later, he died at Bonga hospital after being tortured inhumanely.

He also said Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) is negotiating with BSF authorities to bring the dead body back home.
