An eighth-grader has allegedly been raped after being taken to a birthday party in Gazipur’s Sreepur union.
The incident was reported on Tuesday (Jan 14), Sreepur police Sub Inspector Nazmul Sakib.
The suspects are Sharif, 18, Sujan, 19, Sharif, 20 and Urmi, 18.
The victim lives with her mother a garments worker and her father, a labourer in the union’s Nayanpur.
According to the girl’s mother, their neighbour Urmi took the victim to Sujan’s birthday party on Tuesday evening.
She was allegedly force-fed cold-drinks, taken to a nearby bush and raped. Her parents found her unconscious near their house.
The victim went to the school the next day but came back home feeling sick after which she told her parents about being raped.
SI Sakib said that after the girl’s mother filed a case on Wednesday (Jan 15) night, Urmi was arrested but the rest of the suspects are on the run.
He added that the girl is undergoing medical tests at Gazipur Shahid Tazuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital.
