5 dead in Rajbari as bus crushes three-wheeler

A head-on collision between a bus and a three-wheeler passenger vehicle, locally known as 'Mahindra', has left five people killed and as many injured in Rajbari.
The incident was reported on Sunday (Jan 12) on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway at the district's Khankhanapur area, said officials.
All of the victims were in the three-wheeler vehicles.
"The Dhaka-bound bus operated by Greenline Paribahan from Benapol collided with the Mahindra head-on leaving five people dead on the spot. Five others have been taken to the state-run Rajbari Sadar Hospital from the scene," Rajbari Fire Service Station Office Md Rabiul Alam told Bangla Tribune.
Four of the dead victims have been identified as 40-year-old female Rashida Begum and her 14-year-old daughter Taslima Akter, 40-year-old make Mostofa Sheikh and 16-year-old Imran Hossain.
The fifth victim, a male, is yet to be identified, said police.
OC Masud Parvez of the local Ahladipur Highway Police said that the bodies have been kept at the police station and would be sent to the Rajbari Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
"The bus has been detained, but the driver managed to flee the scene. Raids have been launched," he said.
