Bangladeshi shot dead by BSF along Thakurgaon border

A Bangladeshi national was shot dead by India's Border Security Force (BSF) for trespassing into Indian territory near Paria border area in Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon early Saturday (Jan 11).
The deceased identified as Sabul Islam, 46, was son of Tamiz Uddin, a resident of Taranjubari village of the upazila.
Major Humayan Kabir, acting commanding officer of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB 50), said, “Sabul Islam along with a few others crossed the Paria border near the pillar no 387.
“Seeing the men trespassing, BSF personnel of Barogheria camp opened fire during which Sabul was killed while his associates managed to escape.
"The body is under the custody of Indian police. We have called for a flag meeting with the BSF, where they will hand over the body,” he added.
